Warning: Crapple believers go elsewhere.

You’d think that a full night’s rest would take down my Apple-high, well I can assure you that it hasn’t. I’m still in an Apple haze after Tim Cook announced the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Pay, and Apple Watch. Yes, we all knew a lot about the new Apple gadgets before they were officially unveiled, but there is something that is so exciting, so magical, about Apple’s grand stage in Cupertino, California.

Apple’s three-year CEO raised the red curtain by claiming this day as “one of the most important” in Apple’s history.

Pause.

So yesterday was more important than the unveiling of the Mac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad?

Interesting.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Nearly a year after we met the (now ancient) iPhone 5c and 5S, we were introduced to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The phones are bigger, faster, and ultimately better. Not like this was any surprise, but the new phones ditch the iPhone 5c’s tacky backs, and they come in gold, silver, and space gray, copying the style of the more popular iPhone 5s. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display which makes it a little larger than its predecessor. Although, the iPhone 6 Plus follows the phablet trend and has a much larger 5.5-inch screen.

The new iPhones are clearly better than before, but they are far from perfect. Unlike early rumors stated, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus do not have sapphire crystal screens. A sapphire crystal screen would make an iPhone virtually indestructible, but the new phones can still crack and look like a spiderweb (which has happened to every single one of my iPhones)The phones also require a two-year carrier plan for the cheaper prices, setting the price point at $199 for the 16 GB iPhone 6 with a two-year contract and at $299 for the 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus with a two-year contract.

Apple Watch

Apple jumped on the wearable bandwagon with the Apple Watch. They’re unlike other smartwatches because they’re sleek, stylish, and extremely customizable. The Apple Watch comes in three different collections: Watch, Sport, and Edition. The Watch and Edition are very similar because they have the sapphire crystal screen with elegant bands. But the big differentiator is that the Watch collection has a stainless steel case and the Edition collection has an 18-karat gold case. As you would expect, the Sport collection is made with light-weight materials, so it’s glass, band, and casing is very different than the other collections.

Beyond the watch’s aesthetics, it’s the Apple Watch’s technology that makes it unlike other wearables on the market. The watch wasn’t designed to be an iPhone or Mac on your wrist, but it was designed to be its own entity. And even though it’s different, the watch has a very familiar feel to other Apple products. Apple Watch uses what it calls the Digital Crown, a gear on the side of the watch, that zooms and acts as a Home button. Apple’s smartwatch also senses the difference between a tap and push, so there are a variety of different controls. Like other watches, it seamlessly connects to the iPhone and sends and receives texts, emails, and calls.

The Apple Watch will be available early 2015.

Apple Pay

Last but not least, Apple announced Apple Pay. This technology allows someone to pay for something by simply hovering their iPhone 6 or Apple Watch over a device. The iPhone or Apple Watch creates a specific Device Account Number for each of your cards and adds an additional security number with each transaction, making it extremely safe to use. Companies are including this feature in their apps to streamline the buying process, and companies like Disney, McDonalds, and Macy’s are including Apple Pay in their stores.

Apple Pay 1

If you can’t tell, I’m a big believer in Apple. I think that there were necessary upgrades made to the iPhone, the Apple Watch is one of the best smartwatches out there, and Apple Pay will forever change how consumers pay for goods.
