Prime Day is Tomorrow – Here’s What You Need to Know

By: Kassidy Coleman

You’ve probably heard about Prime Day, which is Amazon’s version of Black Friday in July. Last year was Amazon’s first Prime Day, and while it was a huge success in sales, it left a lot of customers upset (Seriously, there’s a reason that #PrimeDayFail was trending on Twitter last Prime Day).  But this doesn’t mean we should expect this year’s Prime Day to fail, in fact, Amazon is promising this year will be much better than last.
Here’s what you need to know in order to get the most out of Prime Day:

  1. Deals will pop up starting July 12, 2016 at midnight PT (or 3 a.m. ET).
  2. Amazon stated that they will discount 100,000 + things on July 12. That’s a lot of stuff. Be cautious and don’t get too caught up in the situation just because it’s on sale.
  3. Prime Day is for Amazon Prime Members, but if you’re not a member don’t be discouraged – if you’ve never tried it before, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial membership, which you can cancel if you don’t want to continue.
  4. According to CNET, Amazon is promising more TVs than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. Last year over 1,200 TVs that were under $1,000 sold out in under ten minutes, so we’re all expecting more TV deals this year
  5. Toys are a new category for Prime Day. Just expect a lot of toy deals for kids 6-years and older.
  6. If you own an Amazon Echo, Dot, or Tap it’s likely that you’ll be able to gain access to exclusive deals.
  7. Amazon Products will be on sale. A lot of the top selling products from last year’s Prime Day were Amazon products. Expect deals on Fire TV Stick, Kindles, as well as Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Tap. If you have been thinking about buying an Amazon device, wait until Prime Day.
